Small Milestones & Big Gratitude

The Rani Edit

This is where I think out loud. I share new writing, personal reflections, what I'm reading and thinking about, and glimpses of what I'm working on, often before they appear anywhere else. Expect stories about food, memory, ritual, technology, pleasure, place and the strange business of being human, plus first invitations to events and experiences, book news and notes from whatever I'm creating next.

AUGUST 2026.

Hello lovely people,

I hope this finds you well.

It feels like such a lovely moment to pause and share a small milestone with you.

Over the past couple of weeks I've had the joy of seeing Live Life Yummie begin to find its way into the world. I was recently featured in the Anglo-Celt, talking about the ideas behind the book and why I believe food, pleasure and human connection matter so much in a world that often asks us to rush through life.

One of the questions I've been asked a few times is why I chose to write the book the way I did.

The answer is quite simple.

I wanted to write a book that people would actually read and one that felt welcoming and accessible to everyone.

Not because it's simplistic, but because I know how busy life has become. Between work, family, endless notifications and everything else competing for our attention, I wanted Live Life Yummie to feel like a conversation with a friend. A book you could pick up for ten minutes with a cup of tea, or lose yourself in over a quiet weekend, and hopefully come away with an idea or a story that stayed with you long after you'd turned the last page.

I wrote a little more about that in an article on my website and in The Yummie Letter on my SubStack if you'd like to read it:

Why I Wrote Live Life Yummie to Be Accessible by Design

Writing this book has been such a meaningful creative project, and seeing people connect with it has been incredibly moving. Every message, photograph, conversation and recommendation reminds me that books really do have a life of their own once they leave our hands.

If you've already bought and read Live Life Yummie, and if you have a few minutes to spare, I'd be so grateful if you considered leaving a review on Amazon. Reviews are one of the ways people discover books they might never otherwise come across, and for a new author like me they genuinely make a difference. There's absolutely no pressure, of course, but if the book has meant something to you, I'd love for others to hear your thoughts rather than mine.

Thank you for being here from the beginning. There aren't many of us yet, which makes this feel less like a mailing list and more like a little community. I don't take that for granted.

As always, I'd love to hear from you. Just hit reply and tell me what's bringing a little joy, connection or deliciousness into your life at the moment. I read every email.

With love,

Rani Sheilagh

P.S. If you know someone who might enjoy Live Life Yummie, I'd be delighted if you passed it on. Some of my favourite books have come from a friend's recommendation, and I hope this might become one of those books that inspires and uplifts for someone else.

✨ Yummie Takeaway: Life doesn't have to be extraordinary to feel meaningful. Sometimes all it takes is slowing down long enough to notice what's already nourishing you.
