When Nobody Wanted to Leave - and Thank you!

The Rani Edit

This is where I think out loud. I share new writing, personal reflections, what I'm reading and thinking about, and glimpses of what I'm working on, often before they appear anywhere else. Expect stories about food, memory, ritual, technology, pleasure, place and the strange business of being human, plus first invitations to events and experiences, book news and notes from whatever I'm creating next.

Hello lovely people,

A couple of weeks have passed since the launch of Live Life Yummie and I've found myself reflecting on what stayed with me most from the evening.

While it was incredibly special to finally celebrate the book and see it out in the world, what I keep returning to wasn't the launch itself. It was watching people linger long after they could have gone home, deep in conversation, introducing friends to one another, sharing stories, laughing together and genuinely enjoying being in the same room.

As I stood back and took it all in, I was reminded of something I think many of us know instinctively but don't always make enough space for in our lives.

For all the technological advances reshaping how we live, work and communicate, our fundamental human needs remain remarkably unchanged. We still long for connection, belonging and meaningful relationships. We still want to feel part of something larger than ourselves. We still need places and moments that allow us to slow down, be present and spend time with people whose company we enjoy.

Looking around the room that evening, I realised I was watching many of the ideas at the heart of Live Life Yummie come to life in real time.

I've written a little more about that reflection in my latest article on Substack, When Nobody Wanted to Leave, which you can read here:

Thank you for being part of this community and for supporting me throughout the journey of writing and launching this book. It has been such a joy to share it with you, and I'm excited to continue exploring these ideas together in the months ahead.

With love and a little more yummieness,

Rani
